Bagua Tattoo

I've finally took a low-rez picture of my Bagua Tattoo on my left deltoid (upper arm). I apologize for the long delay. Wikipedia has a decent article on the meaning behind the symbol. Surrounding the yin yang are eight trigrams, each with different meanings.

I realize that it is similar to the Dharma logo in the ABC series "Lost". I did watch Lost before I got the tattoo, however, it had in no way influenced my decision to obtain one.

Although it may be a good tattoo, the elements are all in the wrong places, which unfortunately makes the tattoo meaning less. It is also orientated wrong. Sorry to say all this but it is true and should have been looked into better.

That's not actually true (regarding the symbols being wrong). There are two arrangements of the trigrams. The other arrangement has the three broken lines at the top and opposing symbols are opposite each other (3 solid lines at bottom etc). I can't remember which came first or the reasons behind the two different variations but look it up if you are really interested. Anyway, nothing wrong with the way you have it.

I have the exact same tattoo. I didn't think that anyone else had it. Mine is over my heart to represent protection. the symbols are in the correct spot. many people have only seen the other variation. This one is used on the outside of houses to ward away evil.

A broken line represents female, and the full line represents male. Within the belief that female created earthe (mother nature) and is the birth place for all humans, female should be placed on top, in the case of the bagua, 000 = three broken lines. in your case top right.
The others represent only change, 001, 011, etc. changes with male and female.

Doesn't change the fact that your tattoo is wicked ;)

There's the Early Heaven Sequence, and the Later Heaven Sequence. The one depicted in the picture is Later Heaven, and most suitable for tattooing on your body.

Actually, the positions of the top/bottom line are inversed. So it is wrong.
